ps3recomp (open-source contributor)
Jun 2026 – present · 84 merged pull requests, third-largest contributor
ps3recomp is an open-source toolkit that statically recompiles PlayStation 3 games into native PC executables. I am its third-largest contributor, with 84 merged pull requests covering the graphics backends, SPU translation, a differential fuzzing suite and runtime fixes.
Tools: C · C++ · Direct3D 12 · Metal · HLSL · MSL · PowerPC · SPU · Ghidra

What it is
ps3recomp provides the runtime libraries, system stubs and analysis tools needed to turn a PS3 binary into C/C++ that compiles for any modern platform. It is the PS3 counterpart of projects like N64Recomp and UnleashedRecomp. Instead of interpreting PowerPC and SPU instructions at runtime like an emulator, everything is translated ahead of time.
What I contributed
- Enabled the first playable 3D title. My work on the runtime and translation is what got Yakuza: Dead Souls EX from booting to gameplay, on both x86 and ARM64.
- Windows and macOS rendering backends. NV40 (RSX) shader translation to HLSL and Metal Shading Language, with Direct3D 12 and Metal draw engines that consume the game's own command stream.
- Full SPU instruction set. Translations for every SPU instruction, so SPU programs can be lifted to C alongside PPU code.
- 1,984-case differential fuzzing suite. Compares recompiled output against a reference and found 40+ silent translation errors (endianness, carry/borrow, atomic compare-and-swap) that would otherwise have shown up as mystery crashes in games.
- Many smaller runtime and system-call fixes on the way to the above.
