MacAHK – AutoHotkey for macOS
Jul 2026 · Working app
My take on AutoHotkey for the Mac, written in Swift. It records everything you do (keystrokes, clicks, drags, scrolls with momentum, trackpad gestures) and replays it from a hotkey, plus text expansion, image search, conditions, and an importer for real AutoHotkey scripts.
Tools: Swift · AppKit · CGEvent · Accessibility API

Why it replays better than most recorders
Most macro tools interpret your input ("click at 200,300"). MacAHK serializes the raw CGEvent, the actual bytes the window server saw, and replays them verbatim. So:
- scroll events keep their pixel deltas, phases and momentum
- drags replay as real drags, not teleporting clicks
- trackpad gestures (pinch, rotate, swipe, smart zoom, pressure) are captured, not dropped
- keystrokes keep exact modifier and repeat state
Features
- Record from the toolbar, menu bar or a global hotkey; Esc always aborts instantly and releases any stuck keys.
- Every macro is an editable list of steps: reorder, edit, duplicate, repeat with fixed or randomized intervals.
- Steps can be clicks, key presses, typed text, open an app or URL, set or paste the clipboard, click an image found on screen, show a notification, wait, wait-until, go-to-step, stop.
- Conditions on any step: a key or button held, pointer in a region, a pixel color or screen area matching a snapshot.
- Imports a good chunk of real AutoHotkey scripts.
Minimally invasive
No kernel extensions, no background daemons, no login items. It uses exactly the permissions macOS defines for the job (Input Monitoring to record, Accessibility to replay) and only asks for Screen Recording if you use the screen-reading features. Nothing runs unless the app is open.
